    Applications

    Level Translation/Shifting:

    Scenario: In mixed-voltage systems, connecting a low-voltage processor (e.g., a 1.8V or 2.5V MCU) to a higher-voltage peripheral (e.g., a 5V sensor or legacy device).

    How it works: Its wide voltage range (0 to 5V) allows seamless bidirectional signal transfer between circuits of different voltages, enabling level shifting without an additional power supply.

    Bus Isolation & Multiplexing:

    Scenario: When multiple peripherals need to share the same data line (e.g., I²C, SPI) or address line, but only one device can communicate with the host at a time.

    How it works: Using multiple such switches, the MCU can control the switching to connect the bus to Device A or Device B, effectively isolating unselected devices and preventing bus conflicts.

    Hot Insertion Support:

    Scenario: Applications requiring hot-plugging of modules or cards, such as telecom boards, industrial control modules, or test fixtures.

    How it works: The internal circuit design withstands uncertain power sequencing, protecting the core processor and sensitive circuits from voltage surges and current shocks during power-on or power-off.

    Analog & Digital Signal Switching:

    Scenario: Switching audio signal paths, sensor input selection, or low-speed digital signals.

    Note: While it can transmit analog signals (within its voltage range), due to its on-state resistance (~5Ω) and bandwidth limitations, it is not suitable for high-frequency analog signals (e.g., video) or high-precision analog acquisition (e.g., precision ADC inputs).


    DESCRIPTION

    The SN74CBTLV1G125 features a single high-speed line switch. The switch is disabled when the output-enable (OE) input is high.

    This device is fully specified for partial-power-down applications using Ioff. The Ioff feature ensures that damaging current will not backflow through the device when it is powered down. The device has isolation during power off.

    To ensure the high-impedance state during power up or power down, OE should be tied to VCC through a pullup resistor; the minimum value of the resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver.
